[Papers], 1863-1865.

The collection contains two letters written to Beaman by his father, Aaron, of Whitestown, Ind., a military pass (July 6, 1864), three loose sheets of diary information, and Beaman's diary. Also included are a sheet of poetry, 12 sheets of notes taken from the diary and sheets, and a photocopy of the diary. The diary information describes his daily activities, food, books read, and travels.

Elisha Beaman, of Boone County, Ind., mustered into Company G, 116th Regiment, Indiana Volunteers on July 1, 1863. He mustered out in March 1864, and joined the 135th Regiment, Company E in May, mustering out Sept. 29, 1864 as corporal.
